Collar Aged Care is currently seeking an experienced Nurse Unit Manager for an newly built, state of the art aged care facility co-located within a hospital just outside the Melbourne CBD. The facility houses both mainstream and aged person mental health (APMH) beds. 

What will you be doing ?

Be responsible for leading the day-to-day coordination of staff and delivery of high-quality clinical care and management of 30 beds. The NUM reports to the Facility Manager and Director of Nursing to achieve, maintain and promote professional standards of nursing practice.

  • Provide leadership and management of the operations of a 30 bed Aged Persons’ Mental Health (APMH) unit.
  • Lead, coordinate and support efficient and effective resource management to achieve optimal continuity of care in accordance with relevant legislation and professional and operational standards including within the context of psychiatry in ageing.
  • Empower, manage, support and develop a diverse team of registered nurses and clinical care staff members.

What will you need to succeed ? 

  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Previous experience in a senior management role is essential
  • Residential aged care service experience is desirable
  • Post-graduate qualifications in Aged Care and/or Mental Health
  • Comprehensive understanding of professional nursing practice, legislative and regulatory frameworks
  • Leadership qualities with proven ability to direct, enthuse, motivate, support and encourage a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Current NDIS check, or willing to obtain
