The Role:
Our client is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to work at an Immigration Detention Centre based in Northam. In this position you will be responsible for the daily food preparation, cooking and service for people in detention. You will assist with training and development of personnel within the catering department, the presentation and display of food, including portion sizes. You will maintain food hygiene and safety practices in line with HACCP procedures. You will have the ability to step up and lead the team as required. Sound knowledge in cultural dietary requirements is an advantage and good computer skills are necessary to fulfil this role successfully. This role is physically demanding, and you will be required to constantly lift, push and pull stock during your shift.
  
Roster: Various shifts across Monday to Sunday. Hours between 7am-8.30pm

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Cert 3 in Cookery – Australian recognized or equivalent
  • Proven Bulk catering experience (highly desirable)
  • National Police clearance within 6 months or willing to obtain.
  • Basic food hygiene knowledge
  • Understanding of OHS legislation
  • Ability to work within a team or unsupervised
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have reliable transport to get to and from site
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug screen.
