Our client is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Cleaner for Pinkenba Immigration Detention Centre. You will ensure that a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness of all facilities is maintained and contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the site by providing a high level of cleaning support. You will effectively manage time to ensure all cleaning duties are completed within required deadlines. Use all equipment in accordance with procedures and instructions and maintain in a clean condition, reporting faults or damage of equipment to the supervisor. The role involves manual handling and lifting and you will be required to work both inside and in the outdoor areas. This role is physically demanding, and you will be required to constantly lift and bend, push and pull equipment.

What this Cleaner role involves:

  • Clean and sanitize all areas of the detention centre including common areas, offices, and bathrooms
  • Follow establish cleaning procedures to ensure that all areas are cleaned to the highest standards.
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Respond to cleaning requests from staff in a timely and professional manner.
  • Follow all safely and security protocols while working

You will need:

  • Previous experience as a cleaner
  • Training in the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment (desirable)
  • Certificate in Asset Maintenance – Cleaning Operations (desirable)
  • Understanding of OHS legislation
  • Cultural awareness
  • Ability to work within a team or unsupervised
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have reliable transport to get to and from site
