Job Description: As an Environmental Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that operates in an environmentally responsible manner throughout its mining operations. Your expertise in environmental regulations, sustainability practices, and impact assessments will be essential in guiding our company towards achieving sustainable mining practices and minimizing our ecological footprint.
Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive environmental assessments, impact studies, and audits to identify potential environmental risks and opportunities for improvement related to mining activities.
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans to comply with local, state, and federal regulations and adhere to best mining practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate mining operations to ensure compliance with environmental laws, permits, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with mining engineers and other departments to integrate environmental considerations into mine planning and development processes.
  • Advise on the selection and implementation of sustainable technologies and practices to minimize the environmental impact of mining activities.
  • Provide expertise in the reclamation and rehabilitation of mine sites to restore the environment after mining operations have ceased.
  • Assist in community engagement and communication efforts related to environmental aspects of mining operations.
  • Conduct training programs for employees and contractors on environmental best practices and safety protocols.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging environmental regulations, trends, and advancements in sustainable mining practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an Environmental Advisor or in a similar environmental role within the mining industry.
  • Solid understanding of mining processes, regulations, and environmental impact assessment techniques.
  • Familiarity with relevant environmental legislation and permitting requirements in the mining sector.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical and sustainable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and regulatory agencies.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring and reporting processes.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments and remote locations as required by mining operations.
