THE ROLE

Your main duties would include (but are not limited to);

  • Prepare accurate estimates for fire service projects in NSW.
  • Analyse project requirements and specifications to determine the scope of work.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather necessary information.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and gather relevant data.
  • Utilise industry knowledge and expertise to determine material, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, including pricing and bill of quantities.
  • Review and validate estimates to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Provide timely and professional communication regarding estimates to clients and project teams.
  • Collaborate with procurement and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and pricing to ensure competitiveness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in estimating processes and tools.

THE CANDIDATE

Desirable qualities for a fire service estimator;

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of fire protection systems and regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.

Required qualifications for a fire service estimator;

  • Experience estimating defects in fire protection or similar industry
  • Experience estimating minor works, upgrades, and fit-out projects both wet & dry
  • Basic understanding of AS1851-2012, the BCA, and of fire equipment in general
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Experience with the Uptick operating system & HubSpot CRM is preferred but not essential
  • Understanding drawings, as-built plans, etc
  • Strong communication & time management skills
  • Technical knowledge
  • Software skills
