We are currently searching for an experienced Facilities Manager for a permanent position for a security correctional centre located in Northern NSW.

Purpose of the position:
 
The role of the Facilities Manager is to support the General Manager and the Senior Management team in the leadership, management, and operation of the Centre. This position is responsible for the delivery of Facilities Management services. Seeking to maintain the value of the assets through a whole of life approach while minimising interruptions to service delivery through the application of scheduled preventative maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, and lifecycle replacement; observing functional obsolescence and ensuring that compliance to hand back conditions at the completion of the contract term are met.
 
Key responsibilities but not limited to;
 

  • Lead the delivery of day to day Facilities Management Services across the Centre
  • Provide effective budgetary management, performance against key indicators, identification of effective cost savings and assess any financial arrangements proposed
  • Monitor the progress of accreditation and quality management activities / projects and coordinate the standardisation of policies and procedures for the Centre
  • Management of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Conduct ongoing internal audits to ensure strict compliance with the contract and all FMS operating policy and procedures
  • Develop and implement an effective management reporting system and processes to ensure all issues raised are addressed within an appropriate timeframe to ensure the safe and effective operation of the Centre
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required
  • Monitor expenditure, performance against budget, ensure that delegated financial authorities are in place and assess any financial arrangements proposed
  • Plan so that staffing levels and taskings meets the service delivery requirements
  • Engage all employees to receive an annual performance and development review, then subsequently ensure that the objectives within those reviews are achieved
  • Effectively manage employee’s absenteeism and leave provisions
  • Managing performance and disciplinary issues in accordance with Serco policy and procedures
  • This position may be required to carry out other tasks from time to time as directed by the General Manager, Clarence Correctional Centre

 
Skills & Experience required; 
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Property Management or equivalent qualifications
  • Experience in a senior management role in prisons, detention centre, or similar institutional environment
  • Strong experience in project, construction, maintenance or business management
  • Experience in using performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement.
  • Managing a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of Facilities Management services across a large complex within an institutional environment
  • Demonstrated experience in business management across a diverse work force
  • Demonstrated analytical and organisational business skills
  • Possess excellent people skills, commercial awareness, budget and labour management knowledge, financial astuteness and customer service skills
  • High level consultation, communication and negotiation skills
  • Commercial astuteness
