35,000 New Jobs in
the Region

The proposed projects in the Barkly Region are estimated to add more than 35,000 new jobs in the Northern Territory and Collar Momentum is committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the NT to capitalise on these opportunities through education, mentoring, training and development.

Through flexible and supportive group training, we'll focus on developing Barkly Region talent to create more opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on Warumungu Country.

The Barkly Region covers a landmass of more than 320,000km², which is 1.5 times the size of Victoria!

The region is already showing potential for tremendous growth with more than $78 million being invested into the region to improve and develop living conditions through housing, childcare and aged care facilities, sports and recreation facilities, parks and more.

This investment by the Federal, State and Local Governments has been made to support the unprecedented resources being invested into the Barkly Region – developing it’s mineral processing, local manufacturing and renewable energy sector through projects such as the Energy Security & Regional Development Plan and the $32 billion Australia-Asia Link Project.

The Barkly population is made up of 71% First Nations peoples, with more than 40% under the age of 25 years.

Unfortunately, even with the population being predominantly First Nation Peoples, only a few individuals reap the full benefit of these opportunities – causing the chasm in the workforce to widen.

Through support and training, Collar Momentum strives to swiftly move forward to create growth and equality in the workforce in the Barkly Region.
